Whether it’s for a special occasion or just an excuse to catch up with friends, we love a good dinner party. What could be better than spending a few hours with your closest friends and family, eating delicious food in the comfort of your own home? At Bear Claw Catering, we’ve just put the finishing touches to our spring dinner party menu so we thought we would share a few of our favourite spring dinner party dishes with you.
Dinner Party Starters
To start off your dinner party, you want something flavoursome yet light so your guests don’t get too full up – make sure there’s plenty room for dessert later! For a vegetarian dinner party starter, one of our favourite spring dishes is mozzarella, tomato and basil terrine with basil pesto. These flavours pack a punch, but the dish is still light and refreshing so it’s the perfect starter for a spring dinner party. Ideally we’d be eating this dish on a terrace in sunny Italy, but a dinner party at home is the next best thing! For the meat and fish fans, we also do a lovely version of this dish with salmon. The classic Italian flavours work well with the salmon to create a delicious gourmet starter.
Dinner Party Main Courses
Pork belly is a great crowd-pleaser for a spring dinner party. It can be hard to get pork belly just right when you’re cooking it at home, so let us do the hard work for you! We serve our pork belly, which is sourced from local Sussex farms, with celeriac puree, braised beetroot, baby leeks and a porcini jus. These delicious, earthy flavours compliment the sweetness of the pork and it’s the perfect transitional dish as we move away from the heavy, comforting tastes of winter and towards lighter dishes for spring and summer. For the vegetarian option, why not go for something like buttermilk halloumi and a garlic potato rosti served with a pea and mint salad. These beautiful fresh flavours are perfect for a spring dinner party, and even the non-vegetarians are sure to want a plateful of our halloumi!
Dinner Party Desserts
For dessert at a spring dinner party, you can’t go wrong with something light and lemony. Lemons are in season during spring so their flavour is extra citrusy at this time of year, making them perfect to use in a dish like lemon posset. Our traditional lemon posset is served with coconut shortbread which modernises the dish and adds a subtle hint of tropical flavours. Not a sweet kind of person? Opt for a cheeseboard instead for a sophisticated end to the meal. We can put a delicious cheeseboard together for your dinner party, with lots of different local British and French cheeses, homemade preserves, fruit and plenty of tasty biscuits and crackers.
