Something Delicious is coming your way!

Wedding Trend: Floral

Flowers have always been an important part of weddings, but now there’s a new trend which brings floral details into all aspects of the big day - not just the bouquet. From stunning botanical tablescapes to floral wedding dresses, here are some of the biggest floral wedding trends to look out for in 2018.

Botanical decorations

Instead of traditional bouquets and centrepiece arrangements, wedding flowers are now used as creative decorations. Boho weddings are well suited to flower wreaths and posies of wildflowers dotted around the room. Urban weddings in more industrial settings look fabulous with minimal and chic greenery hung from the ceiling. It’s bang on trend to use foliage and simple flowers to create a table runner for rustic weddings.

Another recent floral wedding trend is “living walls”, where entire walls are studded with foliage or flowers to create a beautiful floral backdrop. These are perfect for behind the top table, or to use as a background for a DIY Photo Booth.

Unusual bouquets

There’s a big trend for unusual wedding bouquets this year. Forget the traditional, neat arrangements of roses and peonies, and opt for something a little out of the ordinary. Using succulents in your bouquet is a huge floral wedding trend this year. It makes bouquets look modern and quirky, and the succulents can be mixed in with your other favourite flowers and greenery for a relaxed look.

Also a big trend this year is single-colour bouquets. Get your florist to pick out several varieties of flower, all in the same colour, for a striking wedding bouquet. For those who want something even more unusual, opt for a bouquet with only green foliage and no flowers. It will look stunning and unusual, and forces you to get creative with your choices.

Floral patterns for bridesmaids and groomsmen

Floral dresses have always been quite common for wedding guests, but not so much for the wedding party. Floral patterned bridesmaid dresses are a big trend this year, and it can be made as subtle or as bold as you like. Opt for something simple with pretty floral embroidery on otherwise plain dresses, or go all-out with colourful botanical print maxi dresses.

Don’t forget about the groomsmen! If an all-over floral suit is a bit too much for you, incorporate the trend into your wedding with floral bowties, pocket squares or shirts.

Cakes with edible flowers

Sugar flowers are a thing of the past - the newest trend is to have real, edible flowers on your wedding cake. Having beautiful blooms on your wedding cake really makes it stand out. Consult with your caterer or cake maker to find out what kind of edible flowers are available, then chose ones which are in keeping with your theme and colour scheme.

Flower jewellery and hair accessories

Another big floral wedding trend for 2018 is jewellery and hair accessories made from real flowers. Flower crowns have been around for a while, and they’re going nowhere fast. For something a little more subtle, weave smaller flowers or foliage into braids for a relaxed, boho wedding hairstyle. Also look out for flower jewellery, such as necklaces and bracelets, made from real flowers.
